Dubarry of Ireland has had a reputation for superlative quality for the best part of a century. It began in 1937 in Galway in the small rural town called Ballinasloe. From the very beginning, their interest in making use of European styles set them apart from their Irish counterparts. They began by focusing on the craft of fine leather shoes, and over the years they have mastered this craft. They soon developed their range to include the leather moccasin deck shoe, delivering to the needs of the fishing communities of the West of Ireland. Their collection today looks back to that heritage, including beautiful slip on deck shoes and loafers as well as robust country boots.

Outdoor clothing

As well as creating footwear of impeccable quality, Dubarry also offer a range of outdoor clothing including jackets and gilets. Their clothing would be ideal for walks in the great outdoors, just as much as it would bring a touch of countryside charm to the city. The name Dubarry comes from the 18th century French figure of the court Madame du Barry. This nod to French culture speaks to the style which Dubarry have always managed to bring to their durable and practical clothing. It melds a deep respect for the high standards of workwear and a deep passion for a sophisticated and elegant aesthetic.

Nautical and countryside

Dubarry have been for many decades linked to all things nautical. This is crystallised in their moccasin deck shoes and in their sailing boot designs. From the 1970s onwards they have been one of the world's most well respected traders in top quality nautical footwear. Their heritage in this department is impressive. In the 1990s, Dubarry were for example proud to be the inventors of the world's first breathable and waterproof sailing boot. The mid 1990s then saw them use their knowledge accrued in sailing boots to create their country boot.
